PIFF 2023 at the LAEMMLE NOHO 7 presents a surprise Star Wars Day screening of Star Wars: Visions – Episode “The Pit” written/directed by PIFF Alumnus LeAndre Thomas

Pasadena International Film Festival (PIFF) is thrilled to announce that they are hosting a surprise screening of “The Pit” an episode of “Star Wars: Visions” Volume 2 written/directed/executive produced by LeAndre Thomas and co-directed by Justin Ridge – brought to you by Lucasfilm Ltd. and D’ART Shtajio.

“The Pit” Synopsis: A fearless young prisoner, forced to dig for Kyber by the Empire, plans a risky escape for he and his people.

This screening will take place Thursday, May 4 at 3:00 pm as a part of PIFF’s Opening Day. After the screening, a Q and A will take place with writer/director/executive producer LeAndre Thomas, moderated by PIFF’s Creative Director Marco Neves.

LeAndre Thomas is an award-winning writer and director from Oakland, Calif., whose most recent film won Best Director at the Pasadena International Film Festival. In addition to his independent films, Thomas is a part of the franchise studio team at Lucasfilm Ltd. where he has worked for more than 11 years being credited on recent titles such as “Light & Magic,” “The Mandalorian,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi,” and many more.

Justin Ridge executive produced the Emmy®-nominated series “Star Wars Resistance.” His credits also include “Star Wars Rebels,” “Storks,” “The Cleveland Show,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

This is a festival that is near and dear to my heart ever since winning Best Director back in 2019 for my short film Mirror. I can’t wait to share this with the fans and I hope audiences enjoy our daring take on Star Wars.”
