The last time we saw Clone Force 99, their world was completely torn upside-down. Omega was captured by the evil Imperial scientist, Dr. Hemlock, the Trandoshian, Cid betrayed her brothers, and most devastating of all, they lost one of their brothers. As consumers of popular culture, we have grown accustomed to the hype surrounding the final season of a series, especially a series that resonates with so many people. It must be daunting to craft a final season with so many compelling characters and storylines, especially when so much is at stake throughout the galaxy.
Fortunately, The Bad Batch is helmed by Jennifer Corbett (Head Writer and Executive Producer) and Brad Rau (Supervising Director/Executive Producer). Corbett and Rau’s love of Star Wars, powerful storytelling, and these wonderful characters shine through in every frame of season three. I have seen the first eight episodes of Star Wars The Bad Batch’s final season and without spoiling anything, can safely say the third season is magnificent. While I have only seen the first half of the final season, each episode is compelling, intense, and powerful. Each episode packs a punch and furthers not only the overall galactic conflict but also provides fertile ground for many of the characters to organically evolve.
The Bad Batch has quietly hurdled over Star Wars: The Clone Wars as my second-favorite Star Wars animated series (with Star Wars Rebels firmly in the driver’s seat). Once you see season three, it will become clear. This season features several key plot points that consider the entire series as well as the overarching galactic conflict. Yes, there are some great cameos and moments, but they are never at the expense of the story or these fabulous characters. Season three of Star Wars The Bad Batch delivers on every level. I can not recommend it highly enough.
Star Wars The Bad Batch begins its third and final season today, with three episodes dropping, followed by weekly releases through May 1st.
