Star Wars has always been more or less family based. There’s something in it for everyone to enjoy, from the adult down to the kids. Everybody takes away something from it. As a child, you love the epic struggle of good versus evil. You love the characters and what they do throughout the movies. As an adult, you can then delve deeper into it and analyze it more, much like you have been doing with this podcast. The Clone Wars kept this tradition going, having themes and stories that connected with all audiences. That being said, and I know this is only a teaser at this point, but it didn’t impress me much. The animation looked good, but the way the title was riding on the back of the star destroyed and then zoomed into hyperspace, combined with the voice-over narrator. It seemed to cheesy to me. I dunno, my thought right now is that they might be making it too kid-themed and turning it into something that older teens or adults might not be interested in. I’m anxious for future developments on this show to see what they do with it, because, at this stage, its only a teaser. We don’t know all that much about it yet.

I don’t think there is anything necessarily special or offensive about this promo… but according to twitter the sky is falling. It just shows what unbelievable interest and expectations come from anything official with “star” and “wars” in the name.

It is only 15 seconds of an animated version of the Star Destroyer over Tatooine and it is obviously meant to evoke connection to the Original Trilogy in style and in subject matter. There is zero substance. To that end – it succeeds. BUT… we are all reading way too much into it.

I think that Joe B and Kyan nailed it; it’s hard to make a prediction this early in the show. Personally, I think we shouldn’t panic, or start clamoring that Disney is having a negative impact on Star Wars. However, I did not like the voice over either. I actually watched it again without the sound, and I enjoyed it quite a bit more. I admire Kenny’s joy!

I enjoyed the trailer! As usual, though, fans are freaking out – over nothing, IMO. The trailer is only 15 seconds long – so you can’t really tell much from it – and it was aired on a Disney XD, so of course it was geared toward a younger audience. The voiceover seemed typical of what you hear on a kid’s network, so I didn’t get hung up on that. Plus, I really liked the animation. Overall, that 15 seconds worked for me. Maybe I’m just really easy to please? LOL Who knew?

    Awesome! 🙂
I will admit that — despite the fact I actually marked the “event” on the calendar (time and all!) — I actually missed watching it on television. Thank goodness for CWK! I got to watch it right here. 🙂 I love it, and am so psyched for next fall!!!
