The animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” was cut short this past spring, so fans of the show were not able to see the intended finale of some story lines in the beloved series. However, it looks as though everyone will be seeing the finale of one very popular character – just maybe not in the way that was expected.
Lucasfilm has revealed that the final story arc for The Clone Wars, regarding Darth Maul, will be realized in comic book form. It is expected to be released this coming May by Dark Horse Comics (possibly their final Star Wars related story?).
In an exclusive interview with Newsarama, Star Wars comic writer Jeremy Barlow discussed what to expect from the upcoming series:
“Due to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show’s sudden cancelation, Lucasfilm wasn’t able to film the final episodes of the series, which is a shame because the story is an important — and action-packed — chapter in Darth Maul’s continuing evolution as envisioned by George Lucas.
Never ones to let a good story slip away, Dark Horse and the team at Lucasfilm saw an opportunity to save these teleplays from obsolescence and we’re adapting them into a four-part miniseries called Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir.”

**UPDATE** According to Star Wars Underworld, there a multiple sources at Lucasfilm stating that the Darth Maul arc is NOT the serving as the finale for The Clone Wars.
