New York Comic Con Preview!

New York Comic Con Preview!

nycc-logo-hi-res In just two weeks from now the greater geek universe will be descending on the City that Never Sleeps! Back in July I got amazing news that my Press application had been approved and I’ll be covering the event for Coffee With Kenobi! In the preview here I will briefly go over some of the Star Wars themed panels, events, and guests!

Thursday the 8th is a big day that will be involving plenty of Star Wars Rebels! At 1:30 there will be the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Panel. The panel description can be found here. From what we’ve seen so far this will definitely be something worth attending. Then following that at 5:30 will be the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Sneak Preview where attendees will be able to get a screening of season two episodes!

Moving to Friday we have another awesome bunch of panels highlighted by Star Wars: A Galaxy of Fandom. The panelists (Alexander Freed, Mike Delaney, Brian Linder, and Terry Dodson) will be discussing things like how Star Wars has shaped their lives and their hopes for the Saga going forward!

Closing out Friday is another great panel featuring some good friends of Coffee With Kenobi: the crew from Full Of Sith! Mike Pilot, Bryan Young, and Amy Ratcliffe will be joining three other hosts of two other podcasts for a Podcasting panel to discuss the ins-and-outs of podcasting!

Coming into Saturday we have one of the panels I’m most looking forward to. The Disney-Lucasfilm Publishing panel! Here, authors Adam Bray, Claudia Gray, Chuck Wendig, Jason Fry, Greg Rucka, Creative Franchise Director at Lucasfilm Publishing Michael Siglain, and Story Group head honcho Pablo Hidalgo will discuss their involvement in the Journey To The Force Awakens publishing program. Having read all five novels part of the JTTFA series I will be listening in great detail during this panel!

What would a fan convention involving Star Wars be without Ashley Eckstein! Also on Saturday will be a special panel hosted by Ashley featuring details of how to become your own published author with help from industry professionals and ending with a special announcement! Not to be outdone the first 250 attendees will receive a limited edition poster with artwork by none other than Dave Filoni! I will absolutely be there for this panel.

A little lighter day on Sunday with one panel of note. Lucasfilm Presents: A Galactic Reader’s Theatre featuring authors Alexandra Bracken, Adam Gidwitz, Chuck Wendig, Ian Doescher, Tom Angleberger, and Creative Franchise Director at Lucasfilm Publishing Michael Siglain where they give us a “special Reader’s Theatre of stories from a galaxy far, far away. Nothing too dark, daring or dangerous is off-limits and NYCC Attendees will be thrilled to experience these narratives in an all-new theatrical way.” I’m assuming they will be reading passages from their Star Wars works that have released recently.

Besides the numerous amounts of panels there are also a ton of guests attending that are connected to the Star Wars universe! Appearing from Marvel comics will be writers and artists that have been working on all of the new projects this year. Adi Granov, Alex Maleev, Charles Soule, Gerry Duggan, Greg Rucka, Kieron Gillen, Phil Noto, Simone Bianchi, and Terry Dodson will all be there! Also attending will be Seth Green of Robot Chicken and The Clone Wars, Phil LaMarr of The Clone Wars, Steve Blum of Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars super-fan Kevin Smith!

I’ve got the countdown going and I can’t wait to get down there for the fun! Be sure to follow me on Twitter to keep track of the events and stay tuned here to Coffee With Kenobi for more Comic Con coverage following the convention!
