Mickey’s Jedi Blend: Star Wars Weekends Week 3 Report

Mickey’s Jedi Blend: Star Wars Weekends Week 3 Report

Mickey's Jedi Blend

So, coming off of week two, I was thinking the weekends couldn’t get any better than that. Then week three happened. It was not only the most fun to date, but I was more active this week than any other. I have the blisters on the bottoms of my feet to prove it.

The day started out a lot later than normal, with me arriving in the autograph lines about quarter till seven on Saturday morning. The reason being is a few days earlier I had no voice, so I figured it would be better to get a little more rest than push myself and knock myself out for the long count. It worked out great as my partner in crime Robert and I both secured passes to meet the man behind Zeb, Steve Blum.

The park opened and, of course, we rushed to get our passholder exclusive posters, which this week happened to be Darth Maul. From there it was shopping time. Robert hadn’t visited Darth’s Mall yet so we head there next.

It took three weeks, but in the Mall I bumped into my good friend Gian Petri. Both of us had been at each weekend but kept missing each other somehow. After a quick visit with him, it was off to the Writer’s Shop where I was able to visit with the co-host of Fangirls Going Rogue and co-author of Ultimate Star Wars, the talented Tricia Barr. If you haven’t checked out Ultimate Star Wars yet, go now! It’s a must for Saga fans everywhere.

The Rebel’s Hanger was our next destination where Robert and I met Rachel Monroe and Zach Moore from the new Star Wars fan podcast, Good Morning, Empire. It was great getting to meet them, and hearing about their love for Star Wars as well as Disney, too.

From there it was show time. The Rebel’s Show with Steve Blum didn’t disappoint. Between him and host James Arnold Taylor, the voices flying around were crazy! They both are quite the entertainers!

As soon as it ended, we were right back in line and watched the Stars of the Saga show. This week’s movie stars were the talented Warwick Davis and Daniel Logan. Hosted by James Arnold Taylor, this show had everyone in stitches. Daniel Logan even recreated the famous scene were young Boba picks up his father’s helmet and holds it to his forehead during the Battle of Geonosis.

After the show ended, Robert and I met back up with Rachel and Zach in the ABC Commissary and were able to get to know each other more. We recorded some quick audio before they headed to Star Tours and Robert and I headed to see Steve Blum.

We were fortunate to meet Tom from Tampa in line for Steve Blum along with his very talented girlfriend. He called her Princess Leia because she had the ANH Leia buns going on. They were in front of us in line so they met Steve before us. It was fun watching them interact cause they had no clue who he was. They hadn’t seen Star Wars Rebels before. The highlight of the autograph session was seeing Tom’s girlfriend and Steve Blum do a little tap dance routine in the autograph room. It was awesome.

Tom was nice enough to join me for a few minutes after the autograph session for a quick interview as well.

Robert and I didn’t call it quits there. Due to our later than normal autograph session, we decided to stay for James Arnold Taylor’s one man show, Obi-Wan and Beyond. Everyone knows JAT is talented but you don’t realize how talented until you see this show. He seamlessly went from voice to voice and keeps the audience involved. His story is quite inspiring. If you haven’t heard it before, listen to the week three audio when we release it. He tells his story and you can’t help but be moved from what he has been through.

Our day ended there. Besides the interviews, there is audio we recorded from all three shows. Be on the look out for that special edition episode of the podcast coming up with them included.

Week Four is coming up. I’ll be there again Saturday with my buddy Robert. Guests will be Ray Park and Jeremy Bulloch. That’s right, Boba Fett and Darth Maul in the same weekend. If you are coming out Saturday, look for me and say hi. Not only would it be fun to meet someone new, but you could end up on the next special edition episode.

If you can’t make it, follow Coffee With Kenobi on both Twitter and Facebook for live updates from the park. You can also find the updates here on my Twitter as well. If you have any questions, email me at aharris@coffeewithkenobi.com.

Remember this is the podcast you are looking for.

May the Force be with you…always.
