As we reported a few days ago, filming for Star Wars Episode VII shifted to the island of Skellig Michael off the south-west coast of Ireland earlier this week. Among the various members of the production crew was Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.
Mr. Hamill took to Twitter today with a very nice message for his Irish hosts….
Ireland you are wonderful! Love the country, love the people!

How sweet is that? Filming on Skellig Michael was expected to have wrapped up by now. It will be interesting to see what purpose the island serves in the film. Could that remote, unpopulated, and rocky island be where Luke makes his home by the time the events of Episode VII roll around? It certainly seems like the perfect place to seek the solitude that a Jedi needs to commune with the Force — Much like Yoda on Dagobah, or Ben Kenobi on Tatooine. Granted, they were also in hiding…. Could Luke be in a similar situation? Guess we’ll know on December 18, 2015!
