Jeremy Bulloch Announces Retirement from Convention Appearances

Jeremy Bulloch, the man who embodied the bounty hunter Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy, has announced his retirement from convention appearances. He made the announcement through the Boba Fett Fan Club, and you can read his statement in its entirety below:

Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to stop attending conventions and hang up the Fett helmet. It has not been an easy decision to make. In 1979 I was called onto the set of Empire Strikes Back to play Boba Fett, and since that day it has changed the entire direction of my life in such a wonderful way. It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to inspire so many generations of Star Wars fans. I have had over 20 years of travelling with my wife Maureen to some amazing countries and have met so many wonderful fans. Thank you all so much and we will miss you all.

‘May the Force be with you always’

Jeremy will still be taking part in send-in signing if fans still need items signed for their collections. Please send any requests to

You can leave your personal messages via the Boba Fett Fan Club website, and on their Facebook and Twitter posts.

Thank you to Jeremy Bulloch for his contributions to Star Wars throughout the years, and for being a wonderful representative through his many appearances and fan interactions, and we hope he enjoys his well-earned retirement!

While it is sad to think Jeremy Bulloch won’t be at any more conventions, it definitely is understandable that he has decided to stop doing so. There are so many more things to do in life, and I hope he and his wife have a lot of fun pursuing those interests!

I will say this — I think he is one of the most gracious, kind individuals I have ever met (although I am sure he does not remember meeting my daughter and me in a hotel hallway 😉 ). It was the first time a Celebration was held in Orlando. Caitlin and I had just checked into our hotel, had just exited the elevator and were on our way to our room, when who is heading in the opposite direction toward the elevator but none other than he who embodied Boba Fett — Jeremy Bulloch! Not wanting to detain him — but knowing that Boba Fett was (and still is) Caitlin’s favorite Star Wars character — I could not at least say hello to the gentleman walking toward us. Quite frankly, I expected him to say nothing more than a quick hello in return — but instead he paused, and chatted with us for a few moments!!! 🙂 I think that made Caitlin’s whole convention, and the Celebration hadn’t even started yet (we arrived the day before Day 1)!!! 🙂 We didn’t ask for an autograph, nor a photo … but you know what? The memory of that chance encounter has lasted all these many years, and I never will forget how one very busy individual who had a very busy schedule ahead of him took a few minutes out of his day to make a lasting impression not only on me but also on my daughter. To see the look on her face as we continued on our way, as Jeremy B. continued on his way was priceless, and something I shall remember always. 🙂

Good luck, Mr. Bulloch! Thank you for sharing those moments with my daughter and me, and thank you for your many years sharing your time with us fans. It has been a pleasure and an honor.

Thank you, CWK, for allowing me to share that short story. 🙂

    MTFBWY 🙂
