Star Wars: The Force Awakens — Some Rumors Are True According to J.J. Abrams (This post is spoiler-free. Please keep comments spoiler-free.)

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 5, J.J. Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, disclosed that some of the rumors surrounding the film are true – but, of course, he wouldn’t address which rumors those were exactly.

Here is what Abrams did say:

“We obviously do the best we can just to preserve the story for the audience but it doesn’t always work,” he said. “There are a ton of rumours some true some false, but I’m grateful for anyone who’d want to read a spoiler because it means they care.”

“I know how it feels as a big Star Wars fan.”

To reiterate our position here at Coffee With Kenobi, we are completely spoiler and leak-free. To illustrate that point, I have no clue what rumors he’s talking about. For that, I’m thankful. 🙂

I sense a weariness in J.J. lately – as if the whole leak thing is really starting to affect him. Of all the things I’m looking forward to with the release of the film – the behind the scenes story is top among them.

Absolutely! To his credit, he’s done a great job with spoiler control (compared to some films). Of course, it’s inevitable that things still get through. It has to be frustrating. And December is such a long way away….

I’m with you on the behind-the-scenes story! Can’t wait. 🙂

Oh I agree – I think this push to bring forward the release date is understandable if not realistic.

I made a decision a while back not to read anything EP7 rumour related after it all got out of hand so I’ve kind of wiped my own slate in the hope that I can go into the movie clean. A few of the discussions I’ve listened to regarding the behind the scenes machinations between J.J. and George Lucas and J.J. and Bob Iger are way more interesting and I hope there will be an airing of those stories in the aftermath of the release.
