In a new interview with Total Film magazine, J.J. Abrams enthuses about working with Lawrence Kasdan, the screenwriter for “The Empire Strikes Back” and the upcoming as-yet-untitled “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
Abrams and Kasdan took over the screenwriting duties after Michael Arndt’s recent departure from the project. Abrams says, “Working with Larry has been one of the most surreal joys of my life. We’ve had a lot of fun working together. He’s an incredible guy and an inspiring and spectacular writer.”
Even though Abrams tries to keep his productions based in Los Angeles, he is excited about the prospect of filming Episode VII in London. Working with U.K. film crews is “something that has always been a dream” of his.
MTV has also posted a brief chat with J.J. Abrams. In it he discusses the release date for Episode VII.
“I will say that it is an infinitely better situation now than when they were saying they wanted it in summer,” says Abrams. “Before I even came onto the project they were talking about 2015 and they made this announcement very early on.”
He goes on to say that “a release date is great, but you have to release something great.” Fans everywhere will agree with that, no doubt!
