DISNEY, ILMxLAB AND META QUEST ANNOUNCE SPECIAL QUEST 2 EXPERIENCE FEATURING STAR WARS: TALES FROM THE GALAXY’S EDGE PREVIEW

The Limited-Time, Hands-On Experience Will Open at

Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort on November 21, 2021

Cross-Portfolio Advertising Brand Campaign Kick-off Commences at Launch

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, – November 5, 2021 — Today, Meta Quest and ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment studio, announced a limited-time, special preview of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge coming to the Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, California from Friday, November 21, 2021 – January 5, 2022. The experience will be located at the western side of the district, near Star WarsTM Trading Post. Additionally, a specially produced segment of Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge experience will be featured during Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade on ABC, Saturday, December 25, 10am ET/9am PT.

“We are excited for guests to virtually experience Seezelslak’s Cantina and meet Mubo (Owner of the Droid Depot!) at the Downtown Disney® District activation,” said Jose Perez III, Director. “ILMxLAB worked diligently expanding the story of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and we all hope our guests have a wonderful time visiting the strange and beautiful planet of Batuu in VR.”

Where: Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort

When: Available daily, November 21, 2021 – January 5, 2022

Hours: Noon to 8:00 pm

Guests must wear face coverings for this experience. For more information and to view important details, visit: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/experience-updates/. Must be 13 years or older to experience. Staff members on-site can assist guests who want to reserve a time to come back to participate or direct them to queue up outside the building. Subject to capacity availability. Subject to restrictions and change without notice.

The hands-on preview will showcase a short version of ILMxLAB’s virtual reality experience Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, which expands the world of Batuu like never before. Once inside the Quest 2 headset you will be immersed within sweeping 360 views of the Star Wars galaxy. Be prepared to meet some of your favorite Star Wars characters, new and old, as you take on new adventures throughout the wilds of Batuu! This a complimentary experience, based upon space availability.

The full adventure of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is available now on the Oculus Quest Store.

As part of the relationship, Oculus has sponsored a multiplatform brand campaign with Disney Advertising Sales. The cross-portfolio program begins November 21, 2021, across ABC, ESPN, Hulu, Freeform, FX and NatGeo, with creative spotlights on each brand’s social channels.
