Core Worlds Couture: Loungefly X Floral Galaxy Stormtrooper Tote Bag Review

Core Worlds Couture With Jay Krebs

After a bit of a hiatus, I’m back with a new Core Worlds Couture review!

This time, I’m focusing on the Loungefly X Floral Galaxy Stormtrooper Tote Bag. I purchased this tote from the Hot Topic website in August, but when I checked the site for current info to put into this review, I did not see that it was available through the Hot Topic site anymore.

The tote is, however, still available for purchase through other websites, including the official Loungefly site, listing at $65.00 and Amazon, with a list price of $59.95.

Overall Impressions: I fell in love with this tote as soon as I laid eyes on it! Feminine, yet with that unmistakable Stormtrooper edge, it seemed like a must-have for my fashion collection. I already own two Loungefly pieces, so I knew going into the purchase that I would most likely not be disappointed.

Product Specs from Loungefly:

Faux leather with printed detail and pyramid studs W: 14″ X H: 14″ X D: 6″

Product Specs from Amazon:

The Star Wars Tattoo Flash Tote Bag is an essential for all Star Wars geek!
Measures: 14″ H x 14″ W x 6″D – 10″ drop length
This Tote features top zip closure, interior zipper and pouch pockets, and is fully lined inside.”

Durability/Overall Reactions:

I have owned my tote for about a month and a half, and so far I’m very happy with it. It’s extremely roomy, and I have been using the bag as both an everyday purse, as well as a tote to help me carry school-type items, such as graded papers, classroom supplies I need to bring along for the day, etc.

The floral “tattoo style” artwork interpretation is a signature of Loungefly’s product lines, and brings the look of the iconic stormtrooper helmet to another level entirely. The whimsical artwork is printed on the faux leather, and the detail extends to the back panel of the piece, but does not cover it entirely. I like the idea of having a choice to show the Star Wars side, versus being a bit more subtle with a feminine expression of fashion.

I also adore the edgy, silver pyramid studs holding the handle straps to the main body of the tote.

20160825_201629-622x1024 Although the main part of the faux leather is white, I haven’t had an issue with it getting dirty at all. However, I will admit that I’ve been more careful with it than my other purses, and I will tend to switch it out if I have a sporting event or something to attend where I don’t want to take any chances.

I did get a little ink pen mark on it once when I was picking up the bag with a pen in hand, but it wiped clean with a bit of hairspray and a rag (yes, hairspray will remove ink stains on clothing and other items if caught quickly)!

As with all Loungefly totes and purses, the inside is lined with their signature Star Wars liner, and also features a fairly roomy zipper pouch and flap pouch, which is great for dropping your phone into! Otherwise, that phone would get caught in the depths of the tote itself! I have also been able to fit my tablet, two empty travel mugs, a water bottle, and my son’s rolled-up sweatshirt in it (all at once), and it still wasn’t busting at the seams!

The sides are black faux leather, as are the handles/straps. I do wish the handles/straps were just a tad bit longer, because I noticed when I wore a bulky sweatshirt one weekend, it was a bit reluctant to stay put on my shoulder. The straps are also showing a bit of stress at the point where they are sewed onto the main body of the tote, most likely from me having it in my shoulder most of the time. I really hope the durability of the stitching holds out!20161005_171119-1024x576

The stitching is white on the main body of the tote, and black where the straps are attached. Also featured is the official Loungefly metal stamped plate on the back of the tote. Shiny!

20160825_201640-1-1024x694 As For My Numbers:

I give this tote bag 4 out of 5 Galactic Credits! It’s a great bag for the price, especially since you know you’re getting Loungefly’s consistent quality. For some, however, it might be a bit too big for everyday use, thus reducing its practicality overall.

What a fun-looking tote! I’m not a “stormtrooper” gal, but even I might be tempted to add this to my collection. 😉 It really is very pretty, and you’re right – a great accessory to show your StarWars side – with some practicality. The best of both worlds. 🙂

I know how resourceful you are, but might I suggest taking it to a luggage store that does repairs to fix/reinforce those straps? I’ve saved many a purse of my daughter’s doing just that.

    Great to see you back!

    MTFBWY 🙂
